The Precision Twist E1304 series of end mills are a stub length, square end, four-flute design are made of carbide with a uncoated finish are used for high-speed machining with best performance in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and copper.
Uncoated tools have no finish or coating. They are a common choice for general use applications. The regular length trades off rigidity for length, so you can work with thicker pieces of material or be able to reach out of the way locations. The carbide material offers many advantages over HSS such as faster feed rates due to its hardness. They can be run several times faster than HSS. Carbide’s high heat and wear resistance help extend the life of the tool and increase productivity.
Square end mills are very versatile with the ability to machine in three dimensions, and the four-flute design has high rigidity, the largest section area, a better surface finish than two-flute designs, and are recommended for profiling, side milling and shallow slotting. Most end mills have a 30-degree spiral helix angle, suitable for working with a wide range of materials.
End mills are designed to remove material and create three-dimensional shapes or profiles. They have cutting edges along the outside diameter and flutes that remove chips from the cutting area and allow cooling fluids to enter. If heat is not reduced effectively, the tool’s cutting edges will dull and additional material buildup can occur. The number of flutes can range from two to eight. Two-flute designs offer the most efficient chip removal, but more flutes provide a smoother finish. The shank is the end of the tool held in place by a tool holder or machine. Center-cutting end mills can make plunge cuts similar to a drill bit.
Precision manufactures machine tools under the following brands: Precision Twist, Precision Dormer, and Union Butterfield. They have locations around the world, and provide tools adhering to ANSI, NAS, and DIN standards.
Square end, center cutting end mills, for machining side, face, and slots, and boring into material like a drill Uncoated (bright) finish tools have no additional surface treatment or coating, offering just the base (substrate) material for an economical alternative Carbide can run at higher speeds than high-speed steel (HSS), resisting abrasion and high cutting temperatures Four flutes offer a better surface finish and more rigidity than two- and three-flute types and higher feed rates Short (also called stub) length, for usage where rigidity and lack of tool deflection are important
The Precision Twist E3303 series of end mills are a regular length, square end, three flute design which are made of carbide with a uncoated finish, used for high speed machining with best performance in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and copper.
